What to expect when working with me:

  • Lavender flowers in a sunny field with blurred greenery and trees in the background.

    Initial Consultation

I invite you to contact me so we can set up a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation. I offer this service so that can ask questions, hear my voice and get a sense of my personality. During this call I will go over my process, fees, and find out a bit more about what you are looking for in a therapist.

If you decide that you want to book an appointment with me, I will email you with some paperwork to fill out prior to our first appointment. Your intake paperwork can be done online, which saves us time in session (and paper!) and allows us to focus on truly getting to know one another during the session.

If you decide at this point you want to keep looking elsewhere, that’s totally fine and I’m happy to give you some referrals for other therapists.

    The First Session

Let me break it down so you know exactly what to expect when you walk into my office (or log onto our telehealth appointment). There are some logistical things that will happen at the beginning of our session, such as going over confidentiality and my policies. I will also be able to answer any questions you have about your intake paperwork or therapy in general.

Once these logistics are out of the way, we can get to the good stuff: why you’re here, why you’re here now, and what you’re hoping to get out of this experience. You may not have concrete answers to all of these questions and that’s okay! We can work with whatever you bring into the room. Some of the questions I ask may be difficult or painful and I invite you to let me know if you are not at a place where you feel comfortable answering them. While it is helpful for me to have some details about what you’re struggling with, our work will naturally enable layers to peel back and reflections to come forth over time. This is always done at a pace that feels safe for you.

It is likely that we will spend multiple sessions getting to know each other and determine directions and goals for treatment. This is totally okay and a normal part of therapy.

    Modalities & Techniques

During our time together I will use elements from counseling techniques and theories that resonate with me. I pull from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Humanistic Theory.

In a nutshell, I believe wholeheartedly in the inate goodness of individuals. I believe you are capable of change, growth and empowerment. I will be present, honest, and believe fully in our process without judgement.

I work with and anti-racist, identity affirming, existential framework.
